Is Aqualyx Safe?

Aqualyx is a safe and effective fat dissolving injection treatment that reduces fat cells in the treated area. No major side effects have ever been reported by the manufacturer to date.

Is the treatment painful?

It can be an uncomfortable procedure and this is why I offer Aqualyx with lidocaine to give you an option of some numbing. This will however dilute the solution and so more procedures may be needed to get the desired results. It’s similar to an itching/burning sensation but only lasts for about five minutes.

What does the treatment involve?

We will have a consultation to talk through your lifestyle, what you want to achieve and aftercare. The treatment area will then be marked up before we begin.

What areas can be treated with Aqualyx?

Aqualyx can be used on the face and on the body. As long as there is 1.5 cm of fat to pinch, you can dissolve. 

Who is suitable for Aqualyx?

It’s suitable for most people between the ages of 18 to 60 you have stubborn pockets of fat that just don’t budge

How long does the treatment take?

Treatments take up to 60 minutes and its typically required to have 2 - 8 treatments, four weeks apart to achieve the desired results. You may see significant results after one or two sessions. 

Are there any side effects?

Side effects can include redness, swelling and tenderness in the treated area. These will settle within a few days or weeks depending on how your body reacts to the treatment. The manufacturers assure that today no major side-effects from aqualyx treatments have been reported to them. 

Whats the downtime?

Following treatment in the face especially there will be swelling and discomfort around the treated area that might be slightly uneven and red in colour. This will last around 3 - 5 days. Other parts of the body will also experience some swelling and minor discomfort, this will subside in a few days.

When will I start to see results?

You will start to notice an improvement to the treated area, anywhere between three and six weeks and could also notice ongoing improvements up to 6 months

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Typically 1-3 treatments for small areas such as under the chin and 2-6 treatments for larger areas such as the thighs. Treatments are spaced at 4-6 weekly intervals. 

How can I prepare for my treatment?

If you plan to have fat dissolver on the chin, please avoid using retinoids and such, 2 weeks pre and post treatment.

Are the results permanent?

Results from Aqualux are permanent as the fat cells have been destabilised, destroyed and flushed out through the lymphatic system. If you put on weight you’re more likely to put it on in a different area.
